Description You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of a 100% ORIGINAL U.S. Navy Officer’s Combination Visor Cap, manufactured by BANCROFT (Zephyr Model) of Framingham, Massachusetts. This cap is NAMED on the interior label to William O. Aderhold, A.K.C., and comes from the same estate as the matching U.S. Navy Peacoat also currently listed, both belonging to the same family who served during the Korean War period. After World War II, the Bancroft “Zephyr” series became the standard officer-issue cap for U.S. Navy personnel. Produced in the early 1950s, this example features the classic white cotton removable top, black mohair band, glossy visor, and the gilt two-piece USN fouled-anchor insignia, representing the style worn by officers and senior petty officers during both the Korean War and early Vietnam eras.Made of high-quality materials, this visor cap remains in VERY GOOD used condition! The white top shows only light service wear, the visor and chinstrap are intact, and the gilt side buttons remain bright. The interior retains the original “Bancroft Zephyr” leather sweatband and celluloid sweat-shield, both clearly marked. The sweatband has come unstitched in some areas (see photo), but it does not detract. The cap band label remains firmly stitched, and the name label for “William O. Aderhold” is present and legible. A BEAUTIFUL, named Korean War-era U.S. Navy officer’s cap with matching provenance to the accompanying peacoat. PERFECT for any military headgear collection or Cold War display!
