The townships are fiercelypartisan and in typical fashion have foughthard for their railway connections. The mainpresence was provided by the GWR and theLNWR with routes between the major centres.Other minor concerns were represented by localindustries. Given the industrial nature of thearea, it has been neglected by photographersand over the last fifty years Steve Burdett hasuncovered and recorded a system that wasdecimated in the Beeching Report. As a result,a variety of locations including Stourbridge,Wolverhampton, Walsall and Bescot areincluded in this photographic tour around the region.In recent years, an enlightened transport policyhas seen an improvement in infrastructure andservices including the Midland Metro with moreto follow.
